2010 World Cup Rant

Well, the crazy world we live in has to spoil the build up to the 2010 World Cup. The racist biggot Eugene Terreblanche has been beaten to death and while many may rejoice at the death of such a scornful man, the ramifications for the 2010 World Cup may be felt around the globe.2010 World Cup Peace-Dove

Turning Terreblanche into something he was not, a martyr, is now the goal of his so called supporters.  With one moron member of the the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) group stating the death of Terreblanche had meant that blacks had declared war against whites.

Now I am sorry for being rude but if you support any of these right wing groups black or white then you have not contemplated the existence of humans very much and must be close minded. Living in the UK allows me to see the multicultural divide on a daily basis. I am white, British and very liberal (according to my friends). Am I racist? No, I was just brought up by my dear mother to believe we are born ALL EQUAL, whatever our colour or creed. It is our actions during our existence on this small but beautiful planet which categorizes who we are and what we believe.

You see my friends, my father was a racist and during my childhood I remember questioning on many occasions his racial remarks and wondering why he thought that way. It wasn’t until I was fourteen that I remarked on a school classmates colour that I felt the full implication of racial prejudice, after he had burst my lip with his forehead I began to question my father’s parenting skills. Parenting does I believe, breeds racism, bigotry and prejudice as much as it does stability, love and compassion. I was lucky in one respect that I was overweight and as such went through quite a bit of bullying due to my size. This however let me experience firsthand the depth of despair felt by those prejudiced against.

So what does a fat football fan have to do with global racism? Well I believe we can truly beat racism and bigotry by embracing the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and making sure as fans of this wonderful sport that it is love and peace which is shared in June and July 2010 in South Africa. Let go of the anger, hatred and everything you’re up bringing has taught you and learn to live life in peace.

This is something that Eugene Terreblanche never achieved during his life, a true shame. I for one want for my children a peaceful, happy life with no fear of wars or terrorism. Let go of your religions, they are all the same; just stories passed down through generations twisted and changed to show one thing. Love and peace unite while hatred and bitterness divide.

Bring on the 2010 World Cup where we can show the world what life can be!

RIP Eugene Terreblanche, Bin Laden, Saddam …. You WILL NOT be missed.

End of Rant!
